New Zealand Gallery - Flowers, Leaves and Seeds
There were heaps of young ginkgo leaves so no ginkgo nuts yet. If you know which month of the year we can see ginkgo nuts still on the trees and ripe for picking, do drop me a line! Thank you.
Not sure what these flowers were called so I contacted Christchurch Botanic Gardens. I got a reply within a week with the most helpful information. Thank you! The flowers remind me of the stark white bonnets worn by the Handmaids in The Handmaid's Tale.
Trying out different light effects. Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
Although a bit past their prime, these ranunculuses are still very pretty.
At Christchurch Botanic Gardens now. Not my favourite tulip colour but these tulips were just perfect for a photo opportunity.
Same fields of poppies on the way to Cashmere Hill Lookout, Cashmere, Christchurch.
On the way to Cashmere Hill Lookout were fields of poppies by the side of the road. They were very well looked after and very pretty. Cashmere, Christchurch.
Mona Vale Garden.
Still in Mona Vale Garden, by the Avon River.
A tulip in its prime. Mona Vale Garden, Christchurch, New Zealand, Spring 2019.
I spotted these on my way to Mona Vale Garden in Christchurch, New Zealand. I like the orange tinge on these leaves. When I looked back on my photos, I realised the composition is pretty much the same as my "Maples Leaves" photo (on the USA/Canada page) from many years ago!
